Vayikra: And the One Calls
The work of the Mishkan, the sacred dwelling, is complete.
And the call now is for different offerings,
Offerings that require the depths of our souls
And challenge the stories of who we’ve been:
Lay on the altar all that says you aren’t enough,
The doubt and critique that keep you small.
Put in the fire the clutter that has a million names,
The trivia that steals your time and energy.
Burn up habits that close your eyes and harden your hearts
And give up the guilt and shame that clings to misdeeds.
Lay it all on the fire
And fan the flames.
Then step back and watch it burn.
The offerings create a pleasing smell,
A fragrance that soothes,
Opening us to whatever is next.
