The Months of Adar: Transformation, Possibility
Seven times every 19 years, an extra month of Adar is added to the Jewish calendar to keep the holidays and festivals in their seasons. Without the extra Adar, the holidays would circle around the year, with Chanukah arriving in summer, Pesach in autumn and Rosh Hashanah in spring.
The extra Adar, which began this week, brings us back to alignment.
With Adar comes a mighty ruach—a forceful spirit of transformation and discovery.
Adar surprises us with new perspectives and lifts us toward change and unimagined possibilities.
As we enter Adar it is helpful to practice a flexible stance, to loosen our grasp on how things have always been. As the ruach of Adar comes through to realign and reawaken us body and soul, it is best not to fight it with stubborn insistence.
Adar invites and challenges us to play, laugh and explore, even as the world turns upside down. The realignment it offers carries us to distant shores where possibilities multiply and the hidden becomes revealed.
Let’s welcome Adar and it’s might ruach.
May transformation abound revealing a wellspring of goodness, hope and expansive possibility.
