Directing the Heart: Seeing
This week’s Torah portion, Re’eh, reminds us:
Every day,
We face choices.
How will we respond to all we encounter?
Where will we give our attention, our heart?
What will guide our words and deeds?
The Mystery calls, Look,
See what is really present.
See through expectations and fears
Look, even when it is difficult
Even when doing so burns your eyes.
I am here,
Always, forever,
The Mystery calls.
Woven in the blessings and the pain.
See me and live.
It takes constant practice and the support of each other
To see through layers of mistrust and fear,
To choose the way of love and presence,
To keep looking and not turn away.
Let us offer our blessings and support to each other as we lift our eyes and begin to turn toward 5781.
Love and blessings to all,
Rabbi Yael
