Hineni

Hineni: Here I am

In our sacred book
We turn from the beginnings of creation
Toward a new becoming.

The Mystery calls from earth, from fire,
And says to us,
I am that I am, I will be that I will be,
I am present, always.
Wherever you are, there I am,
This is my name.

It can be difficult to fathom
A Presence with us
In the raw, vulnerable,
Chaos of life.

But the voice is persistent, it whispers, it shouts:
I am the Unfathomable Mystery
As unknowable as the far reaches of the cosmos
And as close as each breath.
Wherever you are, there I am.

And I need you.

I come into the world through you.
Through your hands and eyes
Through your words and deeds.

Together we face pain and suffering.
Together we grieve.
And together we mend and heal.

The ground we stand upon is holy.
The Divine Mystery is everywhere.
Calling and
Waiting for us to turn

To turn and say hineni, Here I am,
Ready and willing to be of service,
Ready and willing to act for healing and love.

May our hearts be strong and filled with courage
As we open expectantly to the Presence of the One. (Psalm 31:25)
