Finding the Right Words - Parsha Vayechi

As the book of Bereishit comes to a close, both Jacob and Joseph seek words of blessing and comfort.

As Jacob lies dying, his mouth is stopped up and all he can do is utter phrases that are clothed in mystery.

Joseph finds words of forgiveness and his phrases tell us that even in great hardship and pain the Divine Presence is with us in love.

Sometimes our speech flows easily and our words carry clarity and insight. Other times there are no phrases that can offer comfort or understanding and we stand mute in the face of all that transpires.

In these moments, may we reach out to each other and may our silent presence offer kindness and love.
