A Prayer from the Ancients for Today
Dear Friends,
Sending love and blessings on this day. May the great mystery that moves through all, guide us, showing us ways to heal and mend.
Here is an offering from the ancient psalmists. I hope it can be a prayer that soothes and inspires our hearts and souls.
To the beloved, a psalm,
I will sing of love and fairness, I will offer melodies to you,
The great unfolding of all.
I will reflect on paths of integrity,
When will I understand how to walk in these ways?
I will practice in the depths of my heart.
I won’t be led astray by the distractions that appear before my eyes,
I will not allow hatred to cling to my thoughts,
I won’t let viciousness take root in my heart,
I will not engage the wickedness that arises among us.
I won’t abide the inclination to slander friends and neighbors in secret
And I will be aware of arrogance as I seek to expand my heart.
My eyes are on the faithful of the land, to dwell with them by my side. Those who walk with integrity will be my guides.
I will not allow deception to live in my house,
Lies and dishonesty will not stand before my eyes
Each morning I will imagine wickedness vanishing from earth
And cities everywhere filled with the sacred presence of love.
Psalm 101
