How Awesome is this Place

Dear Friends,

Like many of us I am struggling mightily these days.

I seek solace in prayer, refuge in relationship

And search our tradition for wisdom and guidance.

Sometimes this helps.

This week we read about Ya’acov’s

Encounter with Divine Mystery.

Break through, the Mystery calls,

Break through what you think you know,

Break through old habits and the insistence on being sure.

Break through to a place of not knowing,

Come into the expanse of uncertainty.

Mah nora hamakom hazeh,

Gen 28:17

How terrifying it is not to know,

How frightening to be with uncertainty.

Ya’acov’s journey reminds us

That fear is an understandable response

To our world being shaken

And it is not all there is.

There is strength, courage,

Awareness and possibility.

There is guidance that comes from each other and

From the realms of mystery,

There is fierce love waiting to be released on behalf of all life.

And there is Divine Presence

Right here by our side.

May we continue to help each other stand in this place,

May we inspire each other’s courageous imagination

And daring vision.

And together may we lift our eyes

To possibilities not yet seen or discovered.

Much love

Rabbi Yael
