See the good and come into the New Year
With the determination and patience
To act with courageous love for the sake of all life
Choose to love.
Love those you love with all your heart, soul and strength.
Love the trees, sky, rivers and rocks.
Let this loving make you strong.
In this week’s Torah portion, Ki Tavo,
The Mystery calls:
As you enter the new land,
As you enter the New Year,
Bring the fruits of your efforts, your devotion, your practice.
As you go out into this season
Notice the challenges of being human
The tradition teaches that as Elul begins,
Hamelech b’sadei, the King is in the field,
The Divine Presence comes out of hiding,
And reaching toward us with love,
Calls: Return.
See that every day you face choices
That are consequential for you and for others
And now,
What does the Infinite ask of you?.
Place upon all beings
Peace, goodness, blessing,
Life, grace, love,
Compassion.
Sadness slows me down, helping me be more present and patient.

I encourage us to take some time each day and let the intention of compassion and relationship fill our hearts and minds. Let’s send blessings to each other and the world.
These next three weeks ask us to reflect on the hatred that we allow to take root in our hearts. The wisdom of the tradition acknowledges that hatred can sometimes feel energizing and “so right,” but allowing it to fill our bodies and guide our actions leads to destruction.

May it be that we leave beauty and goodness in our wake.
May the world be a better place,
For us having shared our songs.
This week’s Torah portion, Korach, speaks about human arrogance and the healing powers of earth.

Let us engage in acts of connection
And deny fear the power to shape our perceptions
And determine our behavior.
With a full heart,
With focused intention,
Within the intimate gatherings of community,
I praise and acknowledge the Mysterious Unfolding of All Life.
I look forward to continuing the journey together as we make our way into this new wilderness.

Let us rise from Hod
And bow to the Infinite Presence
As we step into the week of Yesod:
Foundation, Root,
The sturdy strength of Unfathomable Mystery,
The very ground beneath our feet.
We bow to the week of Netzach,
Giving thanks for its determination,
And expansive vision
And turn ourselves toward Hod,
Presence, Gratitude, Glory, Splendor
What you do matters.
Raise up visions of the world healed and whole
And walk toward these visions with all your heart and soul.
